Trump Asserts America Is the 'Undisputed Bitcoin Superpower' – Pushes for Cryptocurrency Stability Law
The US will become the 'undisputed Bitcoin superpower' — that was the bold claim made by former President Donald Trump during his speech at the Digital Asset Summit in New York.
In the pre-recorded video, Trump emphasized his goal of ending the legal battle over Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, and called on Congress to enact simple, common-sense legislation for stablecoins and the structure of the cryptocurrency market.
US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve
Trump also mentioned signing an executive order on March 6 , officially establishing the US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve .
He said the purpose of this reserve is to optimize the value of government assets, avoiding dumping at low value. At the same time, he criticized the previous Joe Biden administration's Bitcoin dumping policy, saying it was a big waste.
Currently, the US Congress is considering related bills, including the BITCOIN Act by Senator Cynthia Lummis , which would allow the government to buy up to $80 billion in Bitcoin .
Additionally, Rep. Byron Donalds is proposing legislation that would allow the Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of Commerce to add Bitcoin to the federal reserve if these transactions do not impact the budget.
Trump believes the cryptocurrency industry has the potential to drive economic growth and technological innovation.
He hopes that Congress will quickly pass stablecoin legislation to strengthen the position of the US dollar through USD-based stablecoins, while improving safety and security in financial transactions.
